No Ordinary Flight

One weekend I flew up to Ohio to go visit my family for my youngest brother’s 6th birthday.  For what I thought was just going to be a normal plane ride, God had different plans.

When I walked onto the plane, I saw the man that I would be sitting right next to looked really…rough. My first thought of my flesh was, “Great, of course.”  As soon as I thought that, I heard the Holy Spirit say, “Stop it.  I put you here for a reason.”  I immediately replaced those thoughts in my head fully trusting that the Holy Spirit may have a plan for my flight.  He loves and cares for this man just as much as He does me!

After sitting down, we began talking.  I felt promptings to keep the conversation going and ask him questions about his life. Long story short, his past has been really hard; his life still is.  He was flying to Texas to hopefully find a new start, reconnect with his brother, and he hopes to find a job.  He continued to tell me he was very lonely and just wants to find happiness and peace.

I brought my book Destined to Reign by Joseph Prince with me on the flight.  I felt like the Holy Spirit wanted me to give him this book. Earlier in the conversation, this man told me he enjoyed reading.  I asked him if he would read this book.  He told me, yes and I told him if he does, it will change his life!  He teared up, trying not to cry, and was so thankful I took the time to listen to him and give him that book.

Sister, I’m telling you this to remind you to walk with the Holy Spirit daily!  God can use you at any time to impact and change a person’s life. When you learn to walk with the Holy Spirit you will have direction, joy, the eyes of Jesus’ heart, and be equipped to impact people’s lives wherever you go!

What would have happened if I didn’t listen to the Holy Spirit’s prompting?  What would have happened if I wasn’t walking with the Spirit and didn’t know how to hear His voice?  What if I didn’t say “yes” to what the Holy Spirit was asking me to do? I honestly don’t want to find out, but what I do know is because I chose to listen and say yes, this man’s life could be changed for eternity! Hallelujah!
