Jesus Sat Down

Did you know that when Jesus descended into heaven, the first thing He did was sit down with God?  Even though it doesn’t seem like much when first hearing it, this is an AMAZING gesture that I am so thankful for.

You may be thinking, “Why is Jesus sitting down a big deal?  That’s not the greatest thing He did in the Bible.”
Jesus sitting down is so huge and important for our salvation, and here’s why…

¹¹ And every priest stands daily at his service, offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. ¹² But when Christ^[a] had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God, ¹³ waiting from that time until his enemies should be made a footstool for his feet. ¹⁴ For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified. – Hebrews 10:11-14

The priest could never sit down!  He wasn’t allowed to because his work was never done. Due to the priest not being able to sit, they never even placed a chair in the holy place of the tabernacle of Moses. You’ll find other items instead.

Jesus sat down to prove to us yet again that His work of forgiving us for our sins, taking away sickness, and taking away God’s anger towards us is FINISHED for ALL TIME FOREVER.
When Jesus died on that cross, it really was finished forever.  Because Jesus SAT DOWN, while others who were helping people deal with their sin over and over again weren’t allowed to sit.

And guess what, in the Bible multiple times Jesus actually tells us to sit, recline, and rest with Him!!  We can rest in the finished and completed work of Jesus knowing we are forgiven and made righteous in Christ FOREVER!

Sister, how amazing is this?! No detail in the Bible goes without reason.  It blows my mind sometimes how much more we can learn about Jesus!  It’s absolutely amazing how Jesus tells you by His actions more than once how much He loves you and reassures you that are are already forgiven forever!  I’m so thankful that Jesus sat down with God!

So then the Lord Jesus, after He had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven and He sat down at the right hand of God. – Mark 16:19
